In a surprise move, concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) firms Solar Junction and Amonix have signed a ‘co-development agreement.’
Although not giving much away in a joint statement, Solar Junction’s high efficiency III-V multi-junction solar cells will be integrated into the CPV module technology from Amonix.
“This agreement solidifies a new partnership between two advanced technology leaders in CPV,” said Pat McCullough, Chief Executive Officer at Amonix. “It's our goal, by combining our world record module technology with Solar Junction's world record solar cell, that we can increase efficiencies while driving CPV costs down. The results of this collaboration, and its lower levelised cost of electricity (LCOE), will be revealed soon.”
