Financial group, Caisse des Dépôts and the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR), an independent renewable power developer and France’s second largest electricity producer have inaugurated a 12MW solar power plant.
The project is located in Largentière in southern France, with 48,000 solar panels installed to generate an estimated 17,000MWh a year, with 50 jobs created during construction.
Project developer, ADB Solaire raised the €13.3 million (US$18 million) investment required for the Largentière plant, working in partnership with CNR and Caisse des Dépôts and French network distributors, Sem Energie et Services de Seyssel, and the Régie d’Electricité de Thônes.
The investment was financed by capital solution provider, Bpifrance, as part of a partnership with Solaire ADB which began in December 2013, to build 23MW with €27 million (US$36.7 million) total in investments.
The plant development also included environmental measures such as ensuring a 20-hectare sanctuary, environmental monitoring and recycling the solar panels at the end of the park’s lifespan.
