Solar Rainbow Services will be installing a 1MW solar PV system on over 120,000 square feet of Omni Holdings’ South Plainfield, New Jersey facility. Solar Rainbow reroofed the area and has begun construction on the first phase of the project, which includes a 330kW system on 40,000 square feet of roof space.
The solar system is expected to generate 80% of Omni’s electric needs generating 1,100m000kW of electricity per year. Although no details about the cost of the installation were given, Solar Rainbow did acknowledge that they will be installing Chaori Solar panels in the system. Furthermore, Solar Rainbow will be helping Omni Holdings take part in a federal cash grant that will refund 30% of the project’s cost under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“With energy savings and revenue generated through solar renewable energy certificates (SRECs), and the 100% Bonus Depreciation Omni Holdings expects to recoup its investment within two years,” stated Elliot Braha, co-president of Omni Holdings.
Once phase 1 of the solar installation is complete, Solar Rainbow will begin construction on phase 2, which has a 660kW system and covers the remaining 80,000 square feet of roof space. The entire solar project is anticipated to be fully completed by June.
