SolarCity has come together with Lane Electric Co-op and Advanced Energy Systems (AES) to build a 973.84kW solar system at the King Estate Winery in Oregon. The installation is claimed as being the largest at a winery in the Pacific Northwest with construction expected to begin in October.
AES has been tasked with developing the project while SolarCity provides financing and integration support and Lane Electric acts as the utility partner. Although no financial details about the project were released, the organizations did advise that the project will use approximately 4,144 solar panels to produce the electricity.
“Our philosophy is rooted in sustainable agriculture and environmentally-conscious business practices, as evidenced by our dedication to organic farming. Installing a large-scale solar power system is a natural progression for us,” said Ed King, CEO and co-founder of King Estate. “With SolarCity and Lane Electric’s support, we are able to demonstrate to the wine industry that sustainable practices are not only environmentally sound, but also make business sense.”
