SolarCity has announced that David White has been brought on as the company’s chief financial officer. With over 20 years of experience in executive-level financial management, White will oversee financing and accounting functions. The new appointment has come just as the company passes 5,000 customers and introduces operations in Colorado.
“David White has extensive experience managing large companies through periods of rapid growth,” said Lyndon Rive, CEO of SolarCity. “His considerable financial management experience is a perfect match for SolarCity’s next stage of development.”
Previously, White worked for Hands-On Mobile, serving separate shifts as chief financial officer and CEO. He has also worked as vice president of finance for both Chiron and Cable & Wireless. Additionally, White acted as vice president of finance and chief accounting officer for Digital Island and held executive management positions at Coopers & Lybrand, Cigna and May Company Department Stores.
White believes that SolarCity stands apart from other companies. “SolarCity’s unique value proposition – allowing homeowners to use clean power for less than they previously paid for electricity – has allowed it to grow in the midst of the worst recession of my lifetime,” said White. “SolarCity is one of the most exciting companies in the U.S., and I relish the opportunity to manage the company’s growth as it expands nationwide.”
White holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
