Spanish energy production operator Solarig completed a 5.35MW installation in Bonnat, France, in a record time of three months. The €15million plant covers an area of 3.5 hectares.
About 35,000 square meters of solar collectors – the equivalent of 21,600 PV modules, were installed. French energy supplier ERDF will buy electricity at the old feed-in tariff of €0.346/kWh. The permit was authorised in September, by the Prefecture of Creuse to commence construction on October 1.
“5.35 MW will be installed; the equivalent of three wind turbines and twice the power consumption of Bonnat”, says Paul Azibert, who is responsible for the environmental development of Solarig. “To ensure the profitability of a site like this one with only 1200 hours of sunshine a year, we chose components from China. We had a contract with a sheep farmer who will maintain the site which extends over 13 hectares of grassland”.
