Berlin’s environment minister, Michael Müller, was on hand to celebrate the completion of a 1.6MW solar system, which was completed by Solon Energy for Berliner Energieagentur. The rooftop PV system is said to be Berlin’s largest roof-mounted system and will generate almost 1,400MWh of solar power per year. Berliner Energieagentur was responsible for contracting and financing the project and will take over the system’s operation.
Solon used 5,540 made-in-Germany modules on the rooftop of the wholesale market. Additionally, it used three of its systems for commercial roofs to complete installation. The Solon SOLfixx system was used on the plastic rooftops of the wholesale market while the SOLbond PV system was utilized for metal roofs. Finally, Solon used its SOLbond Rail for trapezoidal sheet roofs.
