Solon has named PV industry veteran Joe Benga as VP/GM of its power plants division, where he will oversee the company's commercial and utility-scale solar power plant business from the unit's new San Francisco office. His responsibilities will include the oversight of sales, applications engineering, customer financing, design, engineering and permitting, procurement, installation, inspection, interconnection, and post-installation service.
Benga joins Solon from integrated property solutions provider Lend Lease Americas, where he served as VP and operations director for solar services. Prior to this, Benga held the position of executive VP of engineering and construction for EI Solutions, following the company’s acquisition by Suntech Power in 2008. Benga previously served as VP of construction and engineering for PowerLight, now part of SunPower. During his career, he has overseen the completion of more than 600 commercial construction and PV projects domestically and internationally.
“Joe brings to Solon a wealth of more than 30 years of leadership experience managing people, projects and departments in the solar industry and in commercial construction environments, and we are thrilled to have him on board,” said Dan Alcombright, president/CEO. “Given his uncompromising attention to delivering an outstanding customer experience, Joe is well poised to help us meet the company’s growth needs as we lead the way as a complete system solutions provider.”
