‘String Ribbon’ technology co-user, Sovello is to use manufacturing outsourcing firm, Celestica to assemble solar modules in Ontario, Canada to meet local content rules for PV installations. Allocated capacity was said to be 167MW, almost the same capacity (180MW) Sovello has at its three plants in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany.
The first shipments are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2011, suggesting the agreement was established sometime last year.
“We take pride in our reputation for maintaining superior quality and delivering exceptional value,” commented Jan Dressel, Managing Director of Sovello Canada: “By working with Celestica we will be able to deliver high-quality products that fulfill Ontario’s domestic content requirements. We look forward to working with Celestica to positively contribute to Ontario's clean energy economy.”
Sovello is expanding its operations to serve markets outside Germany, recently gaining MCS accreditation for supplying its modules in to the UK market.
