Solectria Renewables has launched its SGI 500XTM and SGI 750XTM range of external transformer, 1000VDC inverters for utility-scale PV power plants at Solar Power International 2013.
With continued expansion of large-scale PV power plants in North America, inverters are rapidly being required to provide smart grid capabilities to enable utilities to better manage large amounts of intermittent electricity from photovoltaic-based plants.
“Utility-scale solar now represents the largest segment of the PV market in North America,” said Mark Goodreau, director of utility-scale solar solutions at Solectria Renewables. “Solectria created the SMARTGRID series of inverters to address the special requirements of utility companies and large project developers, and is actively developing advanced smart grid features in partnership with EPRI, National Grid, Xcel Energy, and Detroit Edison. We continue to develop the SMARTGRID inverter series to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
Solectria Renewables' SGI 500XTM & SGI 750XTM inverters offer grid management options such as real power curtailment, reactive power control, and voltage and frequency ride through.
These critical utility options are combined with a claimed return on investment (ROI) that is industry leading through high efficiencies, easy installation, a wide operating voltage range and integrated customised options. These inverters boast a 98% CEC weighted efficiency translating into increased energy generation for utility-scale PV systems as well as having the lowest night-time tare losses (standby losses) in the industry.
Solectria Renewables is also hosting a Medium Voltage PV Systems Training, during SPI , on 22 October from 12:30-2pm on the trade show floor in booth #354 and is also exhibiting at booth #431.
