Major PV inverter manufacturer, Sungrow Power Supply is to debut three new, UL listed inverters for the North American market at Solar Power International being held in Las Vagas from October 21.

Sungrow will be showcasing two high efficiency string inverters for utility and commercial applications as well as its latest 1MW central inverter.

The company first revealed a 60kW string inverter (SG60KTL) with 99%-plus inversion efficiency at SNEC 2014.

In North America, Sungrow is offering its SG60KU utility string inverter with a 99% peak efficiency milestone. Such inverters have become popular with developers and EPC’s as they offer lower costs than central inverters on projects up to 10MW in size.

According to Sungrow, the 1,000Vdc, 400/380Vac transformerless inverter’s lower output voltage allows for direct medium voltage transformer connection, and the built-in MC4 connector design enables 2 in 1 junction, speeding installation and reducing cost, as well as giving the advantage of a string inverter at central inverter pricing.

String level monitoring and MODBUS allow for full visibility on performance, and the product is utility ready with local and remote HVRT/LVRT/FRT, power, and PF controls.

Also being showcased is the SG56KU, which is similar to the SG60KU, but optimized for commercial applications, with dual stages, 4 MPPT’s with a wider voltage window, 480Vac output, and 16 fused DC inputs with string level monitoring.

It shares the same communication and control capabilities, as well as compact footprint with sealed electronics enclosure, and can be wall, pole, rack, or ground mounted. It can be mounted at an angle as well as horizontally.
In the large utility-scale market, Sungrow is offering its SG1000MX 1MW central inverter, whihc is a 2.0 version of Sungrow’s globally deployed 500, 750, and 800kW units.

The unit can be mounted on turnkey, prefabricated and prewired 2MW skids with medium voltage transformers and auxiliary equipment to reduce on-site labour costs.

Importantly, changes in air flow and cooling techniques allow for high power density and can produce 1100kVA at temperatures up to 50˚C, the 1,000Vdc transformerless unit comes with 8-12 fused DC inputs (or an optional breaker recombiner cabinet), DC switch and AC circuit breaker.

Utility-scale solar is evolving, shaped by higher power modules and demand for increasingly lower levelised cost of electricity (LCOE). Those trends are also changing project requirements elsewhere, with inverters capable of delivering high power density and power capacity in strong demand. In this webinar, FIMER will detail how its innovative high-power, multi-MPPT string inverter and modular conversion solution can both meet those demands and transform the utility-scale solar sector for the better.

The race is on but we need to sprint… With global climate talks fast approaching and time running out to prevent the most disastrous impacts of climate change, now is the time to act. The Summit will explore the opportunities that emerge from taking action on climate change and provide a clear pathway forward for governments, citizens and companies. Taking place just 10 days before the G20 meeting in Rome, on 30-31 of October, and in the lead up to the critical COP26 meeting in Glasgow from 31 October–12 November, this event will be instrumental in influencing ambitious global action.

The solar tracker market continues to mature at breakneck speed, with designs and component selections becoming ever-more complex in the pursuit of better project economics. But a more simplistic design could deliver a triple benefit of lower Capex, EPC and Opex costs. This webinar will set out the ideal single axis tracker design for utility-scale solar farms. The design leapfrogs from decades of experience, with a comprehensive understanding and attention to the three cost structures of Capex, EPC and Opx. Sun and Steel Solar has prototyped a single axis tracker designed to deliver up to US$0.03/W in real savings compared to existing single axis trackers on the market. That’s US$30 million for every gigawatt deployed.
