Spire and Rudolph Technologies have signed a deal to include Rudolph’s Discover Solar yield analysis and process management software as part of Spire’s turnkey manufacturing product lines. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“Rudolph’s Discover Solar software provides all the process information to our solar-cell production lines,” said Avishai Kepten, Spire’s VP of solar cell lines. “It will allow our customers to bring new lines up to profitable yields and volumes even faster than they can now. [They] will be able to achieve higher average cell efficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs.”
“Discover Solar software is the first yield management tool specifically designed to help PV manufacturers to maximize the efficiency of their cell devices, as well as optimize their production processes,” said Mike Plisinski, VP/GM of Rudolph’s data analysis business.
Although the Discover Solar package (which was rolled out to the solar market early this year) leverages Rudolph’s extensive IC fab management tool experience, it was designed specifically to meet the demands of PV manufacturing.
The software allows PV process engineers to monitor the health of multiple production lines, analyze different paths through the process, evaluate individual process steps and variables, compare batches of incoming material, and discover correlations and chart trends to maximize cell efficiency and process yield.
