Sunfilm AG, Grossroehrsdorf, and Sontor GmbH, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, have announced the completion of all formal requirements for the merger of Sunfilm and Sontor, including the receipt of the approval for this merger by the European Commission.
The company can now start with the implementation of its detailed merger activities; the new company will be known as Sunfilm AG.
“After our announcement of the intended merger, we received very enthusiastic reactions from all our employees, customers, suppliers and service providers. We are looking forward to continuing to work with all of them on realizing the promising future of silicon-based thin film technology”, says Wolfgang Heinze, Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board.
The merger, which was announced earlier this year, means that Sunfilm will become one of the leading manufacturers of silicon-based thin-film modules in the world with 145MWp capacity; 85MWp of this is already online at the Bitterfeld-Wolfen and Grossroehrsdorf locations. The remaining 60MWp will be started up later this year in the Grossroehrsdorf location.
This merger will create additional jobs in the area as the production expansion comes online; the company currently employs over 400 people.
