Suniva is to supply monocrystalline silicon solar cells to Solon, Europe’s largest solar photovoltaic module manufacturer, in a contract worth in excess of $500 million through 2012. Suniva is expanding the number of production lines to meet demand.
“As one of the highest quality solar module manufacturers in the world, Solon is and will continue to be a strong industry partner for Suniva,” said John Baumstark, CEO of Suniva. “This agreement marks another milestone in our growth strategy as we solidify Suniva’s powerful position in the solar supply chain.”
Suniva’s manufacturing plant in Alanta, currently has a capacity of 32MW. Plans are for capacity to be expanded by at least another 130MW over the next two years.
