SunPower has sold its 44MW Montalto di Castro solar park to three international investors: MetLife, Fondo PPP Italia, and Voigt & Collegen. The solar park, located outside of Rome in the Lazio area of Italy, was designed and built by SunPower, which intends to provide continuous operation and maintenance services for the three new owners.
“With the sale of this power plant now completed, we have met the goal of developing, constructing and monetizing 72MW from the Montalto di Castro solar park,” said Dennis Arriola, SunPower's CFO. “We are proud of this accomplishment and recognize the dedicated team and various independent parties that helped to deliver this successful outcome.”
The Montalto di Castro solar park was developed in a multiphase format with four phases being developed by SunPower. The first 20MW phase was connected to the grid in November 2009, followed by an 8MW second phase and the third and fourth phases, which total 44MW and were finalized in early December 2010.
