Suntrix has revealed that it completed a 700kW high-concentrated PV (HCPV) plant Golmud, Qinghai at the end of last year. The project, the date of completion of which was not revealed, is owned by GD Solar. The developer chose the area for its aridity, which is in the region of around 32% relative humidity.
The project uses 63 of Suntrix’s T48-SCPV 500 systems, yielding a capacity of 700kW at 28% efficiency. The area, which is taken up by a large portion of the Gobi desert, gets close to 3358 hours of sunshine per year. The on-grid power tariff policy adopted by the National Development and Reform Commission will benefit projects such as this in the western parts of China, and looks certain to encourage the establishment of such projects in the near future.
