By passing all standards required by IEC62108 Suntrix has obtained the first Golden Sun certification for a CPV module in China. Issued by the China General Certification Center (CGC), the award is an accreditation system for PV products led by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of P. R. C. (CNCA) and supported by the National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC), the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility’s building certification system for Chinese solar PV products.

Guy Rong, CEO of Suntrix said, “To Suntrix, a leading CPV product development company, getting the Golden Sun CPV certification not only means a strong recognition of CPV products by Chinese government, and the possibility for Suntrix to get construction subsidies from the government and be involved in the Golden Sun demonstration project, but it also enables Suntrix to participate in the National franchise bidding.”

Rong also commended the recently completed 200kW project in Qingdao, which he marks as an important step in Chinese CPV development.

Wu Dacheng, secretary general of the photovoltaic professional committee within the China Renewable Energy Association said, “The issuing of Golden Sun Certification on PV modules states Chinese and foreign enterprises are at the same level. The China Renewable Energy Association will further support the development of CPV technology and strengthen academic exchanges in the CPV field to push the development of CPV in China.”

Professor Shen Wenzhong, director of the Solar Energy Research Institute in Shanghai Jiaotong University said, “The award is no doubt another milestone in the development of the CPV industry in China, showing that the CPV technology has already became more and more popular and has got the ability to compete with crystalline silicon solar products. CPV enters into a new era.”

In China, the General Certification Center is currently the only certification authority with the qualification to issue the Golden Sun Certification on solar PV products. The specific IEC62108 standard, which was designed for CPV products, differs from the IEC61215 standard for crystalline silicon products and IEC61646 for thin-film cells.
