Lawmakers in Nevada advanced yesterday with a bundle of bills that they say will revert back to more favourable rates for rooftop solar and increase the amount of energy credits for selling solar power. The bills have now moved to a full committee for consideration.
Yesterday the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) approved a new rate structure for distributed energy resources (DER) that is set to more accurately value and compensate for solar, while also boosting energy storage and community solar.
A new bill introduced at the Kentucky General Assembly would “kill” residential solar and leave PV customers in neighbouring municipalities with differing rates, says local solar installer Solar Energy Solutions.
In 2016, the US solar market nearly doubled its annual record, installing 14,626MW of solar PV. This represents a whopping 95% growth increase over 2015’s cumulative 7,493MW, according to latest figures from GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA).
