PV manufacturers JinkoSolar, LONGi Solar and REC Group have recently filed petitions for inter partes review (IPR) of U.S. Patent No. 9,893,215 B2  with the US Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in response to Hanwha Q CELLS patent infringement cases announced in early March, 2019.
According to Hanwha Q CELLS, the US International Trade Commission (US ITC) has voted to begin an investigation of alleged patent infringement by JinkoSolar, LONGi Solar, and REC Group, in relation to its US  patent on solar cell passivation layer structures.
International solar PV systems integrator Phoenix Solar has lowered its full-year revenue guidance a second time but added a profit warning as delays in project approvals increase due to the US ITC ‘Section 201’ trade case creating market uncertainty.
Documents filed by US-headquartered high-efficiency PV cell and module producer SunPower Corp to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) in respect to the ‘Section 201’ trade case show that SunPower wants thin-film modules made by First Solar included in any remedy actions, while pitching for its IBC (Interdigitated back contact) cells and modules to be excluded.
SolarWorld Americas has highlighted its remedial policies to the US ITC Section 201 case that include not only a minimum import price (MIP) but a total import limit of solar cells and modules at levels around half the demand in the US in 2017.
