Module and cell manufacturer Talesun has partnered with local energy firm Anadolu Enerji to develop and build solar farms in Turkey.
The joint venture will also look at opportunities to leverage its base in Ankara for projects in neighbouring countries as well.
The companies will arrange pre- and interim-finance through to construction before handing off projects to investors.
Turkey currently has a very low base of installed solar projects with just 3MW connected at the start of 2013.
Increased feed-in tariffs and streamlined application processes for projects up to 1MW have cleared the path for the country to make serious progress towards its 3GW solar target for 2023.
“In Turkey, the energy market is currently undergoing a phase of new beginnings, in which increased photovoltaic capacity is also of great significance,” said Gregor Albrecht, managing director of Talesun Solar.
“The state government also takes account of the continuing economic growth and increasing energy consumption in its policy making,” added Albrecht.
