Tata BP Solar India is planning to build a new solar portfolio with a combined capacity of 30MW in the Indian state of Gujarat. The three systems all have capacities between 5MW and 15MW and are situated in the districts of Patan, Kutch and Mithapur.
These projects are the first phase of the state government’s new solar power policy and in addition to the electricity produced they will also create a plethora of construction and technical jobs. All three systems are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
A 25-year power purchase agreement has been signed with the Gujarat government for the electricity generated by the portfolio; for the first 12 years each unit of electricity will be sold for INR15, with this falling to INR5 for the remaining 13 years of the contract.
Tata BP Solar India is a joint venture between Tata Power and BP Solar.
