With PV manufacturers around the world running at high utilisation rates for the first time in two-years, back-end equipment specialist Komax Solar said it had received two large orders for PV module production equipment.
Interestingly, one of the key orders comes from an unidentified European customer, which was said to be expanding its capacity both by upgrading existing installed tool base with Komax’s ‘Turbo Upgrade’ and by installing additional equipment.
The Turbo Upgrade is claimed to increase the productivity of existing Komax X2 stringers by roughly 25%. Komax X2Turbo stringers are said to provide a throughput of 1,500 cells per hour.
The second large order was said to have been placed by a customer in China, which includes X2 Turbo stringers used for expanding capacity.
The company had already received new equipment orders in September, 2013 and as result the company noted that it had a strong order backlog.
