LDK Solar has selected Diamond Wire Technology’s SR200 Filament Saws to be used in LDK Solar’s new 15,000MT polysilicon production plant currently under construction in Xinyu City, China. The custom filament saws are claimed to cut up to 100% more filaments, with lower kerf, resulting in more material for use in the production of polysilicon rods.
“We are confident that the use of Filament Saw will allow us to meet increasing production needs at a lower cost in our new polysilicon production plant,” said Nick Sarno, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing. “We look forward to expanding our relationship with Diamond Wire Technology as we continue to grow and increase production.”
“As the demand for solar energy increases worldwide, we are committed to providing leaders in the solar industry, such as LDK Solar, with innovative equipment and processes,” stated John Brenan, CEO, Diamond Wire Technology. “We are pleased to be in partnership with LDK Solar, and look forward to building a long-standing relationship as we both strive to address the increasing demand for solar energy.”
DWT claims that its SR200 Filament Saw can produce more than 360 filaments per day on 120mm rods and cut filaments up to 150 microns in diameter and 2500mm long into 7mm x 7mm rods in one cycle.
