Meyer Burger’s subsidiary, Roth & Rau has won the first order for its ‘PiXDRO JETx’ ink jet printing technology for high-efficiency solar cells for a US-based customer’s production facility in Malaysia.
Combined with orders for wafer inspection systems from Hennecke Systems the new order was said to be valued at around CHF 3.5 million (US$3.9 million).
Meyer Burger said that it was the only company currently offering printing technology for volume production of high efficiency solar cells in combination with electroplating processes.
The company also noted that the inkjet printing and inspection systems were planned to be used in a 100MW production facility in Malaysia. The printing systems were capable of front and rear printing of up to 900 wafers per hour.
Delivery of the equipment is scheduled for the second and third quarters of 2014.
