Updated. PV equipment specialist, Singulus Technologies has received an order said to be over €15 million (US$20.4 million) for a CIGS thin-film wet-chemical coating processing tool from an unidentified customer in China.
The only China-based CIGS manufacturer that has announced plans to build new production plants in the country is Hanergy Solar, which is planning to build turnkey lines with a nameplate capacity of 300MW employing MiaSolé-based CIGS sputtering process technology and a second 300MW line using Solibro’s co-evaporating manufacturing process technology.
Singulus said that the order was still subject to the approval of the relevant company boards.
Singulus confirmed in a press statement that Hanergy Solar was indeed the customer and that the tool order related specifically to its modular designed, second generation TENUIS II platform used for buffer layer deposition.
“Top quality, high reliability and the long experience of SINGULUS’ CIGS production equipment was the basis for this decision”, said Jianjun Liu, General Manager of Apollo Precision (Fujian) Limited, China.
Apollo Precision is the thin film equipment arm of Hanergy Solar Group.
Hanergy subsidiary, Solibro was said to have already been using the buffer layer deposition technology from Singulus at its current production plant in Germany.
