Array Technologies will supply Baywa R.E. with 1GW of solar trackers for projects in the US and Mexico, with the pair signing an agreement at a conference in Mexico earlier this week.

The deal will allow Baywa to meet local content requirements in the Mexican market, meaning 70% of projects in the country by the Germany-headquartered developer will pass due to Array’s (ATI) supply chain network.

The 1GW of projects will utilise ATI’s DuraTrack HZ v3 single-axis tracker, which the company launched in May 2015, claiming it can facilitate the installation of a third more modules over some of its rival’s trackers as well as a “6% power density advantage”.

“We are delighted to enter into this partnership with ATI, whose industry-leading reliability and near-zero maintenance costs provide the best overall plant performance for our growing portfolio,” Baywa R.E. Solar Projects division CEO Jam Attari.

In July, Swinerton Technologies also struck up a 1GW supply agreement with ATI for US projects. ATI, which boosted its production output ahead of the expected ITC expiry that never came to pass, was first in research firm IHS’ tracker charts for 2014, but lost its top spot to Flextronics-owned NEXTracker last year.
