London-based
investor Jim Mellon (pictured) has revealed his plans to invest his
time and money in the solar industry, reported The Times UK today. With
years of investment and business acumen behind him, Mellon’s insight
has led him down the technology path, starting up a company entitled
Emerging Metals.
Emerging Metals will specialize in the provision of metals for use in the manufacture of solar panels, most likely looking at the areas of Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) or Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS), or both. The company will be floated on the London Stock Exchange’s junior Alternative Investment Market within three months.
“Solar is genuinely clean – it ticks all sorts of zeitgeist boxes,” said Mellon in his interview with The Times. “Within five years, solar power will be as cheap as oil and gas without the subsidy.”
