Unique Solutions, a division of Unique Solar Bremen, has launched its new module inspection system ‘LazySusan.’ The inspection unit can be used to check complete modules for damage, as in damaged fingers or busbars, cracks and ineffective cell areas. Unique Solutions has constructed a mobile testing unit called which can be transported by mini van to every location required.

Importers or insurance companies can never be sure whether the modules bought locally or overseas are of the requisite quality. The only quality proof they receive is a flash report as a performance confirmation. However, cell damage such as cracks, can accrue after the lamination process. Other problems may arise due to transportation, caused by incorrect product handling or rough road conditions. There is therefore and need to check for damages before installation, especially large-scale PV projects.

The modules are inserted into the testing device and connected to the power unit. The complete module is checked by EL procedure. High resolution cameras are installed and will take a picture of all cells. The result will be displayed on a computer screen for further action.  Cracks, inactive fingers, structural damage and cell defects are all made visible.  The LazySusan, is a lightweight, flexible and easy to handle machine. It is equipped with a scanning unit to scan the bar codes of the modules. All information is displayed on a touch screen and can be traced back to each single module. Furthermore, information can be saved on an external hard disc, printed out or sent by email to the office for further handling. The unit can be set up within 15 minutes and the scanning process takes only seconds. The evaluation of the module has to be done by human eye, only in the basic version. Advanced- and Profi- versions, where defects are indicated by colour marking, are also available.

Importers, Insurance companies, PV installers.

Size: approx. 1400 x 990 x 1910 mm, weight approx. 65 Kg, 230V. The system is available in three different types. LazySusan Basic, LazySusan Advanced and LazySusan Profi.
