Taiwan-based wafer producer, Sino-American Silicon (SAS) sales in August continued to slump after the fall-out over US anti-dumping rulings.
The company, with wafering operations in Taiwan, China and Japan as well the majority owner of German-based module manufacturer, aleo solar reported revenue of NT$2,220 million (US$74.1 million) in August 2014, down 3.8% from the previous quarter.
Before the US anti-dumping case neared conclusion, SAS reported revenue of NT$2,479 million (US$82.7 million in June, a record month in the last few years.
However, overall sales in 2014 continue to be higher than in the same period of 2013.
The company is attempting to diversify its product portfolio to improve margins, including the establishment of a 600MW EVA (PV module encapsulant) manufacturing plant in mainland China.
