OCI Solar Power has received the green light to begin constructing a 41MW solar project in San Antonio, Texas.
The plant, Alamo 1, constitutes the first phase of what will be a 400MW project.
Alamo 1 will break ground in a ceremony in early March. It is estimated to be completed at the last quarter of 2013.
The rest of the project is planned to be constructed by 2016.
CPS Energy, the local municipal utility, has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement to buy electricity from the project.
Tony Dorazio, OCI Solar Power’s President said: “We’re looking forward to continuing our work with the San Antonio community. The development of each phase of the project gets us closer and closer to bringing clean, renewable energy to homes and businesses throughout the area.”
