Chinese module manufacturer Yingli Green’s European arm has begun work developing a 20MW pipeline of PV projects in Turkey with local partner Motif Proje ve Insaat.
The two companies are kicking their partnership off with 10MW of projects in western Turkey, which they are currently developing and plan to begin building in the second quarter of 2016.
The other 10MW initially planned by the companies will be complete by the end of 2016, Yingli Europe said in a statement.
“Turkey is an extremely promising market for solar project development due to its growing demand for electricity, large population of over 75 million people and high levels of solar irradiation. There are currently 200MW of PV projects under construction and additional 5GW under application in Turkey,” said Anian Schreiber, Turkey project manager of Yingli Europe. “With the support of Motif Proje, we can rapidly scale our development activities in this high-potential market.”
Deniz Selkan Polatkan, managing director of Motif Proje said: “Yingli is an ideal partner in our mission to build a sustainable solar business in Turkey. We are confident that patient and sustainable companies will be successful in the Turkish PV market.”
