Tonight as the US Men’s National Soccer Team takes on Mexico, the formal debut of a new partnership between Yingli Green Energy Holding’s and US Soccer will make its official debut. Under the newly signed multiyear agreement, Yingli Green Energy will be the first official renewable energy partner of US Soccer, including the US Men’s, Women’s and Youth National Teams through the end of 2014.
As soccer becomes an ever-increasing popular sport in the US, solar leader states such as California, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania have become home to US National Team events during the contracted four-year period. Yingli plans to take the opportunity and help support US Soccer and its efforts to continue developing the game at all levels, including a philanthropic endeavor with US Soccer. One of the main initiatives Yingli Green Energy has committed to under its partnership is the development of solar energy for local athletic centers in lower-income communities throughout the US.
“Soccer is the world's most popular game and we are extremely excited to be partnering with US Soccer, an organization that has achieved tremendous success and similar global recognition in recent years,” said Robert Petrina, managing director of Yingli Americas, a fully-owned subsidiary of Yingli Green Energy. “We consider this association to be the best platform for building solar energy awareness across the country. We recently announced that we are on track to capture 15% of the North American solar market in 2011, and today we're reinforcing our commitment to build a lasting brand and a recognizable local presence.”
