Yingli has topped other Chinese companies in terms of shipments of PV modules in Q1 ‘12, it has been announced. According to reports by Digitimes, the top five Chinese PV module companies in Q1 ’12 are Yingli, Trina, Suntech, Canadian Solar and Hanwha SolarOne. Yingli managed to increase its shipment volume despite the steady drop in solar panel prices, which has caused many companies losses in the first quarter of 2012. In Q1 ’12, inventory values have surpassed revenues, which will affect Chinese companies.
The Chinese companies are optimistic though that demand from countries like Germany or Japan will continue throughout Q2 and Q3, due to new feed-in tariffs and that demand from China will increase. The country will have a demand of approximately 1.7GW of modules for its 2012 Golden Sun Demonstration Project, promising a positive outlook.
