Sunways partners with LDK Solar for module supply

In a quasi-OEM module agreement, LDK Solar will be supplying 30MW of c-Si modules using Sunways own solar cells in an effort to offer greater choice of competitive products to its distribution partners. Sunways said that the supply agreement was for one-year but expected to extend the contract in the future. The first solar modules from the new partnership will be available in the market within a few weeks.

“The cooperation with LDK Solar opens up new sales opportunities in the national and international markets for us,” commented Michael Wilhelm, Chairman of the Management Board of Sunways AG. “The certified production ensures that the solar modules fully meet our premium requirements. This expansion of our product portfolio will strengthen Sunways’ position in view of increasing competition in the photovoltaic market.”

Sunways noted that the module material list was drawn up jointly, to ensure quality. Sunways will also undertake continuous on-site inspections at LDK Solar’s module assembly plant.

“Module production at LDK Solar is based on state-of-the-art processes that meet western standards. All certifications required, including an inspection on site, were passed successfully with TÜV Rheinland. In this way we can offer our customers the outstanding quality they expect from us,” added Roland Burkhardt, Chief Technology Officer of Sunways.

Earlier this year, Sunways introduced a monocrystalline solar cell for its modules with 19.1% conversion efficiencies using advanced screen-printing metallization using 5” wafers.
