Dow Chemical to further develop and expand capacity of ‘ENLIGHT’ module encapsulant

Having recently introduced its latest ENLIGHT polyolefin PV module encapsulant films, Dow Chemical has said it will be further developing the films and adding manufacturing capacity at its integrated site in Schkopau, Germany, in 2013.

The company had previously commenced production of the films at its plant in Ohio, US, in 2010, while adding further capacity this year in Thailand.

Brij Sinha, Associate Director of Global Strategic Marketing for Dow’s photovoltaic business, said: “Dow is committed to finding new and innovative ways to leverage the capabilities of polyolefin technology for the most demanding needs of the growing solar industry. We are using what we learn from working closely with leading module manufacturers around the world to design new products and manufacturing systems to enable them to make panels with improved processing, enhanced performance and lower total lifetime systems costs.”

The company had previously said it was constructing a third manufacturing site for the films in Germany.
