EUREC’s public workshop “Europe’s PV Value Chain Working Together,” which was co-organised by Radovan Kopecek (ISC Konstanz) and supported by Simon Philipps (FhG-ISE) and Ingrid Weiss (WIP Renewable Energies), will be held on 9 June from 13:30 to 16:30 CET. The online workshop will focus on the possibility for new players in European PV cell manufacturing to work together to achieve cost-efficiency. What do new factories and technologies mean for PV module quality, reliability and performance? Knowing which module suppliers are in control of in-house production is a key issue when looking at quality control and field reliability. During the webinar, creator of the PV ModuleTech Bankability Ratings analysis - Finlay Colville - will report on the latest rankings analysis of global PV module suppliers, focusing on which companies are making their own wafers and cells, and which are dependent on third-party outsourcing. Also, during this webinar, Frédéric Dross - Vice President, Strategic Development at STS - will explain the processes and documentation that manufacturers and importers should be adopting, to be able to demonstrate the provenance of their products, as well as covering general principles that stakeholders should be implementing in order to provide transparency on their supply chain. STS recently co-authored the Solar Supply Chain Traceability Protocol, which was published in April 2021.

In this 30-minute conversation, Talesun Solar provided an insight into the company’s latest mono-PERC module series for utility scale projects. Available in both monofacial ‘Bistar’ and bifacial ‘Bipro’ formats, using 182mm half-cut cells in 144 and 156 cell configurations, they provide up to 590Wp performance with module efficiencies up to 21.2%.

From residential to utility-scale solar plants, including commercial and building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV), solar installations must meet the growing demand for high-efficiency, allied to ease of installation and high levels of system safety. Regardless of the type of installation, the demand for keeping life-time maintenance costs to a minimum also remains a key priority. This 30-minute webinar discussed the ongoing developments in improved safety and reduced installation times for PV Modules and components in a variety of PV Power Plant installations.

With the recently realigned TrinaTracker business unit, Trina Solar partnered with PV Tech on the global launch of its ‘AGILE’ (1P) single-axis (dual-row) tracker system, which brings together the latest developments in tracker design, components and software solutions. DNV also presented on the key requirements to ensure the bankability of the new generation of tracker systems.

SiliconPV 2021 will take place as a virtual event and cover the latest trends and results in advanced technologies, materials and concepts for crystalline Si solar cells and modules, such as research on cell architectures including tandem cells, cell processes, modules, measurement, and simulation techniques.
