GE Energy expands operations to Malaysia

US-based GE Energy has announced plans to expand into the emerging Asian market. The electrification company is looking to bring its tint-film rooftop solar PV panels system to Malaysia, with production due to start within the next two years.

GE Energy will partner with companies involved in the construction, electrical and engineering sectors that specialise in rooftop installations.

Small and Medium Enterprise Corporation Malaysia reports that GE Energy general manager of renewable sales (Asia Pacific) Peter Cowling said: “With the recently passed Renewable Energy Bill 2010, discussions are quickly turning to how solar PV projects can be implemented in Malaysia.

“We believe significant opportunities exist for the growth of power generation from solar power and biomass in Malaysia.”
