Gestamp Solar wins first South African government auction of PV projects

The first major renewable energy auction in Africa, undertaken by the Energy Department of South Africa saw Gestamp Solar, photovoltaic solar division of Gestamp Renewables win the opportunity to build two PV projects with a total power output of 30MW in Northern Cape, South Africa.

“These projects are a step further in the group's internationalization,” remarked Jorge Barredo, Gestamp Solar CEO, adding: “This is the first major renewable auction in South Africa and we will be among the first companies that will develop photovoltaic energy in the country,” .
