SolarEdge Technologies has appointed former SMA America president John Berdner as its general manager for North America, where he will direct operations in the region for the distributed solar power harvesting and PV monitoring solutions company.
Preliminary 2009 market figures for the PV industry have been issued by the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), after its recent workshop was held in Rome, Italy. The EPIA said that 6.4GW of newly installed capacity was achieved in 2009, reaching a total capacity of over 20GW worldwide. Although this was hailed as being the most important annual capacity increase ever, due in part to the economic recession, 2010 is expected to see installations increase by at least 40%, while the annual growth is expected to increase by more than 15%.

Jamison, who will report to chairman/CEO Terry Bailey, is a seasoned marketing executive with more than three decades of experience with leading companies in dynamic and growth markets. He will be responsible for all marketing-related activities at the Monrovia, CA-based CPV firm, including product management and field applications.
Recurrent Energy has named Patrick Caramante as its new VP of engineering and construction. In this role, he will lead the company's E&C Group, responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of Recurrent's portfolio of distributed-scale solar projects.
SPG Solar has named Chris Robine as the new company senior vice president and chief financial officer. Robine succeeds Paul McKnight who is leaving SPG Solar to pursue other opportunities.
Reidar Langmo has joined the board of 1366 Technologies. Based in Oslo, Norway, the solar industry veteran is the CEO of VC firm Novus Energy Partners and was a cofounder of silicon PV company REC.
