JinkoSolar has announced that one of its affiliated companies has granted rights to certain of its N-type TOPCon related patents to another of the world’s top ten module manufacturers, which enable that company to use the patented technologies in its own TOPCon products.
IP transactions are not unique to the solar PV industry, with many high-tech segments such as semiconductors and telecommunications entering into agreements on a frequent basis as a way of promoting innovation and collaboration as well as avoiding legal disputes.
As a leader in PV technology, JinkoSolar has to date applied for over 3500 patents, of which more than 2000 have been granted. The company currently holds one of the industry’s largest portfolios of recognized TOPCon patents.
“The pressing need to reduce carbon emissions calls for ever faster technological development and greater accessibility to new technologies in the solar industry. We want to help other players in the market and our clients to identify opportunities for developing new technologies and products and can assist them in navigating the complex landscape of technology mapping”, commented Jinko CTO Dr. Hao Jin.
