JinkoSolar has announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Sinopec Star, a leading Chinese petroleum and chemical company, to jointly develop solar-to-hydrogen plants for the supply of green hydrogen, the project representing a significant milestone for both organisations.
Sinopec Star plans to set up several industrial-scale solar-powered, emission-free, hydrogen production facilities across China, which will serve as proof of concept for the cost-competitive production of hydrogen from advanced solar technology.
“We are happy with this agreement, as it represents an important step for JinkoSolar to employ our advanced solar technology and high-performance products in the green hydrogen space,” commented JinkoSolar CEO Kangping Chen at the signing ceremony. “It could be the first-ever integration of next-generation N-type technology with solar hydrogen production and we could not have asked for a better partner than Sinopec Star, which has taken the bold step to transform its business to address the challenges presented by the energy transition.”
