Following testing by DNV at a rooftop project in the Italian city of Milan during January, it concluded that Trinasolar’s Vertex S+ 500W+ mono-facial modules can reduce balance of system (BOS) costs by up to 2.27%, levelized cost of energy (LCOE) by up to 4.24% and structural costs by up to 12.01% when compared with three reference modules based on n-type technology. DNV compared the BOS cost and LCOE of Trina’s 210R 500W+ mono-facial module, the 182 490W mono-facial and the 210R 450W mono-facial module, as well as the company’s 182R 500W mono-facial product.
Total installed capacity was 250kWp, with a typical fixed rooftop structure utilized. The reduction in BOS costs and LCOE can be attributed to the Trina modules’ innovative low-voltage design, resulting in lower material and labour costs and less initial investment. With ultra-high power, the Vertex modules also reduce the number of units required, speeding up construction.
