IRENA and Fraunhofer ISE sign MOU to increase renewable energy deployment

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing their cooperation while increasing the deployment of renewable energy systems worldwide.

Speaking during the signing ceremony at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, Professor Eicke R. Weber, Director of Fraunhofer ISE , said: “By joining forces we intend to create synergies and accelerate the deployment of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions on a global level.”

The two organisations will collaborate in a number of areas including joint public event support and initiatives to make energy more accessible via the UN Sustainable Energy for All program. They will also collaborate on providing insights on how Fraunhofer is developing solar energy technologies in different sectors.
