CIGS thin-film module manufacturer MiaSolé has announced that it has manufactured its 50 millionth cell since its inception. Earlier this year the company, which uses 88 cells per PV module, teamed up with Intel’s Technical Manufacturing Services practice to accelerate its production ramp from 50MW to 150MW per annum capacity by the end of 2011.

“Manufacturing our 50 millionth cell is a testament to the emphasis we've placed on innovative engineering, and the steps we've taken to ensure that we are able to deliver repeatable, low-cost, high quality panels at scale to our customers”, commented Rob DeLine, vice president of marketing for MiaSolé. “This commitment to reliability is reinforced by a growing number of globally bank-financed solar projects that are using MiaSolé technology.”
