Project Focus: Solyndra completes 370kWp rooftop installation on Italian landmark building

A Valenza, Italy building owned by Finpiemonte Partecipazioni and deemed an architectural landmark has a new solar rooftop system, courtesy of Solyndra. Working with Ardea Energia and EGEA, the local utility company for the region, through a power purchase agreement, Solyndra designed and built the 370kWp CIGS thin-film solar system on the building that, among other private and public businesses, is home to the Palaexpo Jewelry Co.

“While generating substantial power from the sun, the Solyndra system also complements the fine architecture of our building in several important ways,” said Paolo Marchioni of Finpiemonte. “The lightweight system did not require additional engineering or penetrations of the roof. This protected the integrity of the building and the quick installation meant there was minimal disruption to our business.”

The installation took around three weeks to be completed and uses roughly 2,030 solar panels to generate power.
