QuantaSol restructures in preparation for volume manufacture

In an effort to prepare for volume manufacture, QuantaSol, the independent designer and manufacturer of strain-balanced quantum-well solar cells, has undergone significant restructuring.

Chris Shannon, who was appointed company CEO in late 2009, has overseen two new appointments to the QuantaSol management team. Ivor Thomas joins as CFO while Dr Gianluca Bacchin is appointed VP of engineering. Dr Tom Tibbits has also moved from his role as product engineering director to become director of product marketing.

QuantaSol continues to develop its multi-junction cells with the aim of achieving higher efficiency; the newly restructured company will now drive toward volume production as a product launch is expected later this year.
