Senior level speakers confirmed for EPIA events at the 27th EU PVSEC

With the 27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (27th EU PVSEC) just around the corner on September 24-28, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) has announced a string of high level speakers for its events at this year’s conference.

Held in Frankfurt, Germany, EPIA has jointly organized with EU PVSEC a number of events throughout the week which will examine the challenges and opportunities posed by the PV industry.

9th European PV Industry Summit

The 9th European PV Industry Summit will be held on Spetember 25 with a focus on “Mainstream and maturing: Challenges and opportunities for the PV industry as it moves towards high penetration”. Topics covered at the summit include PV target for 2030: General vision for the sector and PV integration into the electricity grid. Speakers at the summit will explore the prospects of PV for the coming years, discuss EPIA’s new report Connecting the Sun: Solar photovoltaics on the road to large-scale grid integration and give their views on industry innovation and new business models for PV. The speakers include Jerry Stokes, the president of Suntech Europe, Riccardo Lama, the senior vice president of technology at ENEL Distribuzione and Achim Woyte, the R&D manager at 3E. Investors Day: “Risk mitigation in PV investments: The key to sustainable market development?”

Building on last year’s inaugural edition, the Investors Day programme will see speakers address and explore financial solutions within the PV industry. They will discuss the investments requires in manufacturing as well as the availability of affordable capital for large-scale plants development and retail projects in a competitive environment. Speakers include Major PV players, banks, investment groups, insurance companies and analysts from various companies and organizations including Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Dow Corning and SunEdison. EPIA Industry Area

Throughout the week, the EPIA will be holding several workshops, meetings and networking events at its booth as well as the Europe-Asia PV Forum on September 24. The forum will provide a platform for delegates to exchange views and examine opportunities offered by global PV industry and markets. It will be moderated by Melinda Crane, the chief political correspondent of Deutsche Welle.
