Suntech continues European workforce expansion with four new senior executives

Continuing its trend for this year to expand its European administration, Suntech Power has added to its management board with the appointment of four new senior executives.  David Hogg is head of Suntech Europe, Vedat Gurgeli is VP of Sales Europe, Frank Weber is Marketing Director of Europe and Carl von Braun is Director of Project Finance Europe.

Dr. Zhengrong Shi, Suntech’s chairman and CEO said, “The key appointments to our European management team are another major move forward in solidifying our operations in Europe and providing local support to our rapidly expanding customer base. Each of these executives brings vast industry knowledge and crucial management expertise, which will reinforce the status and reputation of the Suntech brand across Europe.”

David Hogg brings over 20 years of the PV industry experience to Suntech. He is the founder of CSG Solar and was CEO there since 2004. Prior to CSG, Hogg was the managing director of Pacific Solar and began his solar career at Unisearch, which saw him responsible for commercializing technologies developed by the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He has a degree in mechanical engineering.

Vedat Gurgeli was previously the managing director for the Asia-Pacific region and of South Europe form Madrid region for Conergy. His past employment saw him at Bosch as general manager APAC for Blaupunkt Aftermarket and was head of product management at the company headquarters in Germany. He was also at Sharp Microelectronics in Hamburg, Germany, in varying OEM sales and marketing management functions. Gurgeli has a degree in electronic engineering.

Frank Weber is now to oversee the development of Suntech’s European marketing team to promote sales and manage the company’s reputation. He brings over 18 years of international marketing experience and has been an advisor and supporter for numerous growth, technology and manufacturing companies on business critical issues. His most recent position saw him as senior VP of corporate communications at Deutsche Post DHL, which saw him in a support role for marketing professionals and CEOs in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Weber received a master’s degree from the University of Heidelberg.

Carl von Braun was the former CFO of CSG Solar before joining Suntech. He began at Deutsche Babcock-Borsig Group as a commercial manager and financial controller for various national and international projects. He later was a financial manager at Hyperion Solutions in Deutschland and eventually became the CFO of a satellite communication firm and finance director of a WLAN company. Von Braun received a degree in business administration from the European Business School.
