Suntech president discusses plans for mass production of 20.5% PERC cells

Wuxi Suntech showcased its new ‘HyPro’ series modules at Intersolar Europe last month. The range features its new monocrystalline PERC solar cells with 20.5% average conversion efficiencies achieved in volume production. In an interview with PV Tech, Victor Xiong, president of Suntech said he expected the company to make the necessary investment to have PERC production running at 1.2GW. Xiong also noted R&D spending would increase as the company gets back to full-swing manufacturing.
