Solar tariffs in India hit a record low of INR2/kWh (US$0.0270/kWh) following an auction this week for 1,070MW of PV projects that are set to be developed in the state of Rajasthan.

The deployment of wind-solar hybrid projects could play a key role in India meeting its renewable energy targets while also reducing intermittency problems, a new report says.

Eden Renewables India, the EDF and Total-owned joint venture, has cemented its status in India’s solar market by picking up awards for 1.35GW of new-build solar PV.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids for a 100MWac/200MWp solar project with a 50MW/150MWh battery energy storage system in the state of Chhattisgarh.

Azure Power and Tata Power were among winners in a reverse auction for 1.2GW of solar projects in India, with a winning tariff of INR2.43/kWh (US$0.0324).

Azure Power has seen its pipeline of interstate transmission solar in India swell by another 2GW after a greenshoe option in an existing contract with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) was exercised.

Spain’s Solarpack and Italy’s Enel are amongst the winners of Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) latest utility-scale solar tender, which has tempted record-low bids from parties involved.

Indian developer receives Force Majeure notices from under pressure Discoms over solar payments but SECI steps in to block claims.

Hybrid tender will mix PV, wind and others with thermal power plants to offset the impacts from intermittent renewable capacity coming online.

1.2GW hybrid tender coupling hydro, batteries, solar and wind achieves highly competitive tariffs versus coal power, say prominent industry figures.
